Fraud Victim Uses Voice Clone to Expose Deceptive Scam Bob Sullivan, an internet writer and consumer rights advocate, recently fell victim to a deceptive scam. Much to his surprise, the scam artist created a voice clone of him to perpetrate the fraud. After becoming aware of what had happened, Sullivan decided to use his experience to help others and expose the scam. Sullivan was contacted by an individual who claimed they were from a tech company. The purported company claimed to have a great new opportunity for Sullivan to make money. After some research, Sullivan determined that it was a scam. To his surprise, the scammer had used a deepfake of Sullivan’s voice to try to convince him to invest. Sullivan was outraged, yet determined to use his experience to help others. He contacted his local law enforcement agency and informed them of what had happened. He also contacted his local media and told them his story. From there, he created a website to inform and educate people about the scam. Sullivan also distributed flyers to his local community to warn people of the scam and how to identify it. In an effort to further expose the scam, Sullivan decided to use the same technology the scammer had used by creating a voice clone. He used this voice clone to make a video of himself, warning others not to fall victim to this scam. Sullivan’s video has had a tremendous impact and has been viewed by millions of people. Sullivan hopes his efforts will prevent others from becoming victims of this scam. |
