'St. Louis Woman Targeted in Voice Clone and Fake Bondsman Scheme' St. Louis woman has been targeted in a complex scheme involving a cloned voice and fake bondsman. According to KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis, the woman was contacted by someone claiming to be a bail bondsman, asking for her help to release a person from jail. She agreed, but when the woman arrived at the jail she was informed that no one had requested a bail bond. The woman realized that she had been duped when she heard a voice clone of the caller. The voice was created to sound just like the caller, but with a slight difference to the woman's ears. While it is still under investigation, it is believed that the caller was able to manipulate the woman into believing he was a real bondsman. The use of a voice clone in such a situation is highly concerning as it allows the caller to not only conceal their identity but also manipulate the victim into believing they are a legitimate person. Such tricks allow for the victim to be more vulnerable and could potentially lead to the victim being taken advantage of financially and emotionally. The St. Louis police are currently investigating the incident and have advised the public to be aware of such scams. In a statement released by the St. Louis Police Department, they warned against giving out any personal information to unknown callers, even if they sound like they are legitimate. They also asked the public to be vigilant and alert the police of anything that could be suspicious. |
