Haryana Man duped by Cyber Thugs Using AI Voice Cloning Tool A man from the state of Haryana in India recently fell victim to cyber thugs who used AI voice cloning technology to dupe him out of Rs 30,000. The shocking incident has raised concerns about the potential misuse of such technology, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures to prevent future attacks. According to reports, the cyber criminals used an AI voice cloning tool to mimic the victim's voice and call his local bank, where he held an account. They then asked the bank to transfer Rs 30,000 from the victim's account to another account. The bank, hearing a voice similar to the victim's, complied with the request and authorized the transfer. Unfortunately, this isn't the first case of AI voice cloning technology being used to scam people. Just last month, a man in Uttar Pradesh lost Rs 20,000 to cyber criminals who had used a voice cloning tool to impersonate his voice. Experts warn that AI voice cloning tools can be easily accessed online, and criminals are increasingly using them for fraudulent activities. Companies are now being urged to strengthen their security measures to prevent such crimes from taking place. This includes the implementation of two-factor authentication, voice recognition systems and other measures that can make it harder for criminals to gain access to sensitive information. |
